So, you’ve decided to make a Facebook page for your business. After setting up the page and creating your initial posts, what should you do next? It’s time to build your audience!
Nothing is more exciting — and oftentimes more frustrating — than receiving that first few hundred likes and comments. However, many think that simply posting content is enough for other people to like a page. If you sit and wait for people to find you, you’ll wait a long time before you can achieve your goals.
Here are six surefire ways to grow your audience on Facebook.
1. Share your page with your network
The easiest way to get you started with building your audience is to share it with your network and invite friends to support your page.
Once people have liked your page, it’ll be easier for others to do the same. Ever heard of the bandwagon effect?
2. Interact as your page
Facebook is a community of many communities. For people to know that your page exists, interact with other pages and do it as your page.
Here’s how to do it:
- Click the inverted pyramid icon located at the rightmost side of the section that contains the Like, Comment, and Share buttons
- Choose the page you’d like to use to comment
3. Add the link to your signature and bios
If you’re active on various online channels and use your email as one of your main communication tools, adding the link of your FB page to you signature and bios can help. This is a subtle way of letting other people know there’s another place they can reach out to you.
4. Add a Facebook badge to your website
A Facebook badge (or button) on your website gives your visitors another thing to do apart from filling out your contact form or browsing your site. It also encourages them to interact more with your brand and get to know you better in a venue that they are more comfortable in –and that’s on Facebook.
5. Start an Ad Campaign
One of the most important things you can do to grow your audience is to target the right people through ads. Don’t just boost a post. Create an ad to promote your page and set the parameters appropriately.
An ad campaign with correct parameters ensures that only the right users would see your ads. You won’t be wasting money on Likes that won’t increase engagement or turn into leads.
6. Post Valuable and Relevant Content
WIIFM (What’s in it for me) applies even to social channels. Show people what you can offer them. What would get your target audience to like you? If you were in their shoes and you see your page, what would get YOU to like your page?
Post different types of content that your audience can relate to. Share blogs, videos, and photos that are relevant to your market. Keep your audience up-to-date with industry news.
Stop posting content and wishing the right people will find your page. Don’t have a “wait and see” attitude when it comes to growing your audience on Facebook. Be proactive and soon you’ll realize it’s all worth it.
